Lapid Calls Iran Deal Netanyahu's 'Complete Failure' for Israel
Writing on X, the US-based social media platform, Lapid warned that the deal taking shape would leave the Iranian government intact, preserve Tehran's missile capabilities and allow Iran to eventually reconstitute its nuclear program.
"The agreement currently taking shape does not achieve any of Israel's war objectives," Lapid wrote, pulling no punches in his assessment of the diplomatic outcome.
He characterized the development as "Netanyahu's complete failure," contending that it had reduced Israel to a satellite state subject to external directives on its own national security matters. Lapid further warned that "no press conference, media manipulation, or AI-generated video can hide this failure."
— Israeli Officials Voice Alarm
Concern over the reported deal reverberated across Israel's political and security establishment Saturday, with officials expressing unease over an agreement believed to be nearing finalization between Washington and Tehran.
Israeli media reported that senior Israeli officials fear the accord would bolster the Iranian government's standing while simultaneously constraining Israel's freedom to conduct military operations in Lebanon.
The diplomatic developments come amid reports that the US and Iran are on the verge of concluding an agreement to end the war that erupted in late February, following strikes by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran.
